Fate Cup Fantasy Competition

Whether or not you participate in the finals of the Shard Cup for Season One, you have the opportunity to build your own pod of players that you expect to dominate the tournament with FiveShards very own fantasy competition.

Entry fee: We are asking for a 2-Shattered Destiny pack donation. This is not a requirement, but on top of the other prizes we are throwing in, we want to see if this is a sustainable event for the players interested in participating.

Rules

1. Team Budget: You get 135 points to spend on a team of 4 players. You can have fewer than 4 players, but cannot have more.

2. Player Cost: Each player has a cost related to their inverse ranking in the top 64. Additionally, any other players (who may come in as an alternate) are worth one point each. See this part of the Fate Cup spreadsheet for point costs.

3. Scoring: Your final team score is contingent upon how your players do:

1st: 16 points
2nd: 12 points
3rd-4th: 8 points
5th-8th: 4 points
9th-16th: 2 points
17th-32nd: 1 point
33nd-64th: 0 points

The player with the most points will win the event and there will be prizes for multiple places (minimum of three). The tiebreakers are as follows:

1) Team Average Place (a lower rank (closer to 1) provides a better tie-breaker score)
2) Team Cost (lower costs provides a better tie-breaker score)

4. Prizes: Prizes will ultimately be determined by the entries. All prizes used for entry fees will go directly to the fantasy pool for those who enter and we will post the final fantasy prize pool on Saturday. However, when I was openly debating whether or not to have a fantasy competition due to the prize pool being too small, Colin heard me and, once again, is throwing some love the community’s way. We still want to grow the prize pool and get enough evidence that fantasy competitions are self-sustaining, but on top of entry fees, we will have the following prizes:

1st Place: 5000 platinum
2nd Place: 2500 platinum
3rd Place: 2500 platinum

5. How to Enter: Each player will send an in-game mail to the account “FiveShards” that contains the following:

  1. The subject should read “Fantasy”
  2. The body must include your four picks and their total point cost
  3. Your donated entry fee
  4. I must receive your entry by 8am PDT, May 9th
  5. Only one entry per player. Multiple entries from different accounts of the same player will lead to immediate disqualification and ban you from future FiveShards events.
  6. The only person prohibited from entering the fantasy competition is me (Zubrin) as I do want to allow the tournament casters a chance to play and discuss their picks.

  1. Nice touch on naming the pods after the shards 🙂

  2. how do you win?

  3. I can see Andrew in the Conquest pod, but can’t see his name in the Fantasy Points section. Did you miss out on adding him?
